Become a physician assistant (PA) is a movement of very smart race. You have a lot of great medical assistant programs to choose from. Here are five major programs in the United States. Prerequisites and requirements differ slightly from one program to another physician assistant, so be sure to investigate the prerequisites for each school you want to apply.
University Program Physician Assistant Iowa
U.S. News and World Report magazine ranks the PA program at the University of Iowa as the best in the country, with graduates consistently rank in the top 5 to 10% in scores of national certification examination for PAs. Each year a new class of 25 students enrolled in PA in May Prerequisites include (but are not limited to) a degree from a U.S. accredited baccalaureate or university, several undergraduate classes for beginners and advanced, and at least 1,000 hours of direct experience of health care patient (as an EMT, orderly, nurse's aide, respiratory therapist or similar).
Duke University
Duke was a pioneer institution of the PA, with the 1960 program. This two-year program consists of one year of pre-clinical studies and one year of hands-on clinical practice. New classes begin in August PA, and preferably on income is given to those who apply as soon as possible, each class is 70-75 students. On average, people admitted to the Duke PA program have one to three years of experience in patient care full time. This program is full time only.
Emory University
All freshmen at Emory PA care to agricultural workers in southern Georgia and execute a monthly clinic for the uninsured in Atlanta. Each year, a group of about 50 students in its graduate program of 28 months. Admission requires a degree from a school accredited baccalaureate, and at least 2,000 hours of experience in direct patient care as a technician, nursing assistant, EMT, PT assistant, or similar. Prospective students should also have undergraduate courses in biology and chemistry, and biochemistry courses, microbiology and statistics are recommended.
George Washington University
GWU has two PA programs a two-year program and the MSHS PA-PA-MPH three-year program. The three-year program provides students with a Master of Science in Health Science and a Masters in Public Health. Academic phase of the program is 42 weeks long, and the rest of the program consists of clinical placements. It encourages prospective students to apply online, and must have at least 960 hours of experience in direct patient care.
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas
This graduate degree program requires a PA degree with courses in anatomy, physiology, genetics, general chemistry, organic chemistry, microbiology, psychology and mathematics with an average of "C" or better . Clinical experience in patient care is also recommended. The curriculum is followed by clinical rotations, and all students must take courses in medical Spanish. Students at UT Southwestern have a success rate of 99% in the national certification exams AP.
