Certified medical assistants ( PA) have been a reality in the medical field since 1965 , when the program began at Duke University . There are currently just over 135 different training modules in this area and all are still in use today to provide a comprehensive training program .
Most of these programs require is that candidates have at least two years of college and some experience in a healthcare scenario . It can be like an EMT ( Emergency Medical Technician ) , paramedic , RN , associate degree or a health educator . However, because it is a competitive field, the average PA has a degree in a field and usually about 4 or more years of experience related to health.
Although medical assistants are mostly men , the number of women in this sector has become more than 58% of the assets of PA . The reason why the number of men in this area is that early in the history of health care , most of these roles were played by men in the armed forces, who then took his medical training at the place to work and transcended in the private health sector .
The role of the Palestinian Authority , which is legally associated with a supervising physician , now allows tasks that were only a time for physicians, such as diagnosis, management history , physical examination and management patients are completed. Now , studies indicate that a physician assistant has the ability to provide premium health care ( comparable to a doctor) for about 75% of the various conditions in primary care.
PA to have the clinical and academic time ready to provide health care services . This is done under the direction and supervision of a doctor of osteopathy (DO) or MD . Your responsibilities may include, therapeutic, preventive embodiment of the health maintenance and diagnostic services. This can also be extended to work in residential nursing care under the supervision of an MD or DO .
In 2006 , the Palestinian Authority can not receive third-party (insurance) direct compensation for their services, but are billed by and through their employer or the physician . They practice in a variety of settings in almost all areas of medical and surgical specialty.
The majority ( about 45%) practice in the areas of primary care , 28% of those in the practice of family. Other areas of practice are general surgery, emergency medicine and other surgical subspecialties. However, most participants are also involved in research, teaching, administration and other non-clinical roles.
Like many other professions , physician assistants are regulated at different levels. Licensing occurs at the state according to specific laws. Certification , however, is set by a national organization , the requirement of minimum standards of practice to work in any medical field of nursing facility in any other medical assistant position.
